Your Terragen pictures are fabulous.. I'd love to be that good lol
From what I've learned, it takes a lot of playing around with texture heights and lighting/atmosphere. Also, when you render, set the render size to a very large size (e.g. 1600x1280 or 1280x960 etc) and then resize it down to the final size. I typically render at 1600x1280 in order to produce a 1280x1024 desktop-size render.
